OnePlus 6T gets cheaper in China

The Chinese government recently passed a bill, reducing the tax for luxury goods, including smartphones. After Apple dropped the prices of the 2018 iPhones with CNY500, OnePlus followed suit and now the 6T is down CNY400 and now its price is just CNY2,999 or under $450.
Currently the OnePlus 6T is offered in four colors - Midnight Black, Mirror Black, Thunder Purple, and Speed Orange, but only the first two got their prices slashed. The price of CNY2,999 is for the 6/128 GB variant, while the 8/128 GB phone is now CNY3,199 (less than $480) instead of CNY3,599 ($535). Similarly, the Midnight Black 8/256 GB is CNY3,599 from CNY3,999 ($595).
The reduction of prices might account for the new tax law, but the company might also be lowering the price tag in order to clear any stock for an upcoming launch. The OnePlus 6 arrived back in May 2018, while the OnePlus 5 was official in June 2017, so it looks like we’re up for a treat in the next month or two.
